Terrace wedding in the heart of Florence

Terrace wedding in Florence, Italy

A terrace right in the heart of Florence, Italy? Yes, please to the perfect location, which is such an important element of most everything wedding related, but especially for a destination wedding. And, I don’t know if you know this but I LOVE to travel as much as I love photography so when the opportunity presents itself to be a destination photographer I am always ready to go! (You ca check out more of my destination work here!) ESPECIALLY when the destination is in Italy, let alone Tuscany. You see, my wife’s family is from both Florence & Lucca right in the heart of Tuscany so I have spent much time there throughout our relationship and have fallen in love with the Tuscan kitchen, art history, language (Florentine Italian is awesome!) and of course the views!

Speaking of views, let’s talk about this view overlooking all of Florence from up near Piazzale Michelangelo, shall we? Always incredibly gorgeous and captivating, but for this couple, the perfect backdrop for their Florence wedding. The loved ones of the bride + groom that came to celebrate were treated to so many amazing details from a wine tasting welcome party to dancing under the stars in the heart of Tuscany! Some other really fun personalized elements included a make-your-own pizza rehearsal dinner and welcome bags to help guests feel comfortable throughout their stay all flawlessly planned by wedding planner Christina Currie and her fabulous team!

The couple invited their 50 closest friends and family to Villa La Vedetta, a gorgeous neo-renaissance hotel that is home to a one-of-a kind panoramic terrace overlooking Florence, where you can almost touch the city centers’ historic domes and architecture. As Christina herself said of the location, “Fairytale-type gardens and Cypress trees that surround the property make for the perfect photo ops!”

Invitations, menus and escort cards replicated the classic Renaissance artwork which Florence is known for. The ceremony was held in front of the venue, and we couldn’t have ordered better weather as they exchanged vows among the estate’s gardens. For the reception, guests were ushered to the back of the Villa and a King’s table set on the balcony terrace overlooking one of my favorite cities! It was such a thrill to be working in Florence, having spent so much time there with my wife’s family and close friends!

I could not wait to sneak this couple away and capture some incredibly images of the newlyweds in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

The elegant table settings of seasonal florals and candles definitely set a sophisticated, beautiful tone for the evening. Cafe strung lights brought that twinkle that adds magic to any evening. In fact, the florist was a local husband and wife team, who takes pride in getting to know their client’s personally, and created such a beautiful design. The floral were stunning. Many of the other vendors were from the destination or had worked closely in the city, knowing how to cater to the land and provide an ideal experience for all guests. It was such a pleasure and privilege to be a part of this wonderful team of creatives and I cannot wait to get back to Florence for my next wedding!

Could that next one be yours? Send me a message and let’s talk about it!
